Support fund for small Jewish communities

The Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah and the Rothschild Foundation - Institut Alain de Rothschild created in 2019 is a fund intended to help small jewish communities located in french regions and in the greater suburban area surrounding Paris to finance the expanses for repairs and major maintenance for their buildings.

Those communities have great difficulties to finance those types of works on construction sites, however often necessary in order to mantain their real estate heritage and to allow that it stays in accordance with standards applicable to establishments hosting the public.

The assistance granted cannot cover the entire expanses incurred and cannot exceed 20 000 € per project. This assistance is not renewable.
 

Support modalities

In the event of financial assistance being granted, a partnership agreement is signed.

The assistance is usually disbursed in several phases.

The release of the balance is subject to an assessment. The project holder undertakes to provide the FMS with the necessary administrative and accounting documents and to allow the monitoring of the use of the assistance granted.

The project holder undertakes to inform about the support of the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah and the Fondation Rothschild on its various communication materials.
 

Submit an assistance request

Before completing and submitting an application, please review the following: procédure complète.

For any request, it is necessary to schedule an appointment with Isabelle Cohen (at the Foundation or by phone) to ensure the eligibility of your project

Next deadline to apply : Monday,  September the second, 2024

The applications must be returned to the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah simultaneously via electronic means (culture@fondationshoah.org) and by postal mail in 2 copies.

The applications must be submitted at least 3 months before the project implementation date.
Incomplete application will not be processsed.
Unless otherwise specified, the Foundation's decision will be communicated within a period of 3 to 6 months from the receipt of the complete application."

Comité 

An ad hoc commitee is charged to review the applications.

It is composed by : Marc El Nouchi (former president of the Jewish culture commission of the FMS), Frédéric Attali, Ron Azogui, David Holzman, Paul Levy, Max Polonovski, Joseph Raba, Guy Shapiro and Charles Tenenbaum.
