Application deadline: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Klaus Oschema, Director of the German Historical Institute Paris, and Philippe Allouche, CEO of the FMS, sign the partnership agreement for the research grant on January 21, 2026, in Paris

In partnership with the German Historical Institute Paris (GHIP), the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah (FMS) has established a research grant dedicated to the study of the Holocaust in France and Western Europe.

The grant is intended for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with a German university who wish to undertake a one-year research stay in Paris. Applications from other German-speaking countries are also welcome. Awarded for one year, the grant may be renewed upon request.

The funding includes a grant from the FMS awarded its regular support programme. The GHIP provides mobility funding and a workspace. The grant holder may use the institute’s facilities and take part in the academic life of the GHIP Paris.

The Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah also supports research projects (outside of grant schemes) and offers research travel grants, as well as a grant dedicated to the History of Jewish Women in France.
